Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority engages leading professional management company to help draw entertainment, sports, and conventions to the region

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF./NEV. (March 10, 2021) – The Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority on Wednesday evening unanimously selected leading private management company Spectra as the provider of venue management, food services & hospitality, and partnerships services for the new Tahoe South Events Center.

Construction resumes late spring with completion expected in 2022 of the 132,000 square-foot facility that broke ground July 2020. The center will provide a venue for conventions, special events and entertainment on Lake Tahoe’s south shore. The venue will be host to a variety of events for the local South Tahoe community, including concerts, family shows, and professional and amateur sporting events. Spectra will also utilize the facility to attract regional and national meetings, conferences, and conventions, along with many local community and social events.

“The first-class event center is going to be an excellent complement to the abundance of outdoor activities, extensive amenities, and vibrant nightlife in South Lake Tahoe,” John Page, Spectra’s president of Venue Management, said. “We are confident that the arena and convention space will help generate year-round tourism, in particular driving economic activity during the shoulder season.”

Spectra expertly oversees a combination of venue management, partnerships, and food services and hospitality for more than 330 venues – including 90+ multi-purpose facilities similar to the Tahoe South Events Center – and has opened upwards of 100 facilities. Spectra’s client partners include: Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo.; Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Wash.; Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa; Stride Bank Center in Enid, Okla.; and Santa Clara Convention Center in Calif.
