Notable Events: 


Hosted K-POP group BlackPink for a sold-out show at FirstOntario Centre. This was the only Canadian date on their first North American tour (this was booked because of the success of 3 sold out BTS shows in 2018); Had record-breaking sales of Disney on Ice and Monster Jam; From 2020 - FirstOntario Centre was converted to an surge shelter for Hamilton's homeless to help provide COVID required distancing that the other shelters could not provide. 


Achievements: 


2019 was the first season of First Ontario Centre's new Canadian professional basketball team - The Hamilton Honey Badgers, who play as part of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). 


Background:


Since taking management of the three core entertainment venues in 2013, Spectra has saved the city of Hamilton $3 million in operational savings. - in 2013 Spectra in partnership with Front Row Marketing purchased a daktronics led ribbon for FirstOntario Centre - From 2017- 2021 - Spectra has worked with the city of Hamilton to replace all the escalators (4) and elevators (2 passenger, 1 freight) The project was completed this year. - Notable events - in 2015 the venue hosted the Juno Awards (Canadian version of the grammys and the world synschronized skating championships, in 2016 we host 5 sold out Garth Brooks shows, in 2018 hosted 3 sold out BTS shows (only Canadian date) and the CCMA Awards (Canadian version of the CMA awards) - it is returning again in 2023 because of the success of the event.
